Texas Music Awards seeking committee members

LINDEN, TX – The Academy of Texas Music and MyTexasMusic.com are seeking volunteers to staff committees needed in conjunction with the presentation of the 4th Annual Texas Music Awards on March 25th at Music City Texas Theater.

All interested persons are asked to attend the first committee meeting at Music City Texas Theater on Thursday January 5th at 6:00 p.m.  A brief explanation of each committee will be given and volunteers will have an opportunity to sign up for one or more.

The Academy of Texas Music recently named Music City Texas Theater in Linden as the location of the 4th Annual Texas Music Awards.  Jinelle Boyd, one of the producers of the show, says, “This show is fully funded by sponsors and completely staffed by volunteers.  That is part of what makes Texas such a great place.”

”There is a lot to be done in preparation for this show and we would love to have the help of the community.  It is so exciting to watch this event come together over a short twelve week span.”

Boyd said there were eleven committees ranging from Sponsorship and Hospitality to Publicity and Personnel.  The additional committees are Audio-Visual, Advertising, Process, House, Awards, Show, and Follow-up.

Boyd added, “We had more than forty great volunteers last year, and we will need the kindness of volunteers again this year in every possible capacity.  We’ll need graphics designers, video experts, computer operators, runners, greeters, party planners, and sponsorship sales people.  Many of our past volunteers will come from all over Texas on the day of the show, but there’s plenty to do before then.”

The city of Linden and the Linden Economic Development Corporations pledged their support of the Texas Music Awards by voting to partially fund the event.  Boyd commented, “We’re so happy to have such great community support.  This is a great opportunity for everyone to be part of the most prestigious musical event in Texas.”

The Texas Music Awards are given annually to independent Texas performers who meet criteria during a qualifying period.  Awards are presented for Entertainer, Male Vocalist, Female Vocalist, Duo or Group, Rising Star, Record, Song, Album, Singer/Songwriter, Musician, Live Band, Musical Event, Producer, Radio Station and Disc Jockey of the Year.

Performances by no less than ten acts will highlight the event which begins at 12:30 p.m. with a red-carpet entrance of the nominees.  The show commences at 2:00 p.m.

Nominations for the awards began on January 1st.  The public can make their suggestions for nominations online by visiting www.TexasMusicAwards.org until January 20th.  On February 1st, the five nominees in each category will be announced and fans can return to the TMA website to vote for their favorite nominee.
