Marshall is center
of attention for Texas music awards show featuring B.J. Thomas
MARSHALL, TX – The Academy of Texas Music, Inc. Board
of Directors has named the Marshall Civic Center in Marshall, Texas as the
location of the 8th annual Academy of Texas Music Awards on Saturday, May
15th, 2010.
Legendary performer and songwriter, B.J. Thomas will host the event and
perform a concert with his highly acclaimed band after the awards show.
The show, presented by Northeast Texas-based MyTexasMusic.com, the retail
partner of the show’s production company, Payline Productions, presents
awards to independent Texas performers in several categories.
The annual event also serves as a fundraiser for the non-profit Academy of
Texas Music, Inc. which seeks sponsorships and donations to further its
efforts toward music education programs, scholarships, recognition projects,
and benevolence programs for musicians in need.
Jinelle Boyd, Executive Director of the Academy of Texas Music, Inc. and
co-founder of the Academy of Texas Music Awards remarks on the quality of
the show. ”These are some of the greatest performers in Texas. They’re
independent musicians making the music that the world will be listening to
in the future.
With B.J. Thomas hosting, this is going to be an amazing
event. We know he and his band will put on a fantastic show and wrap up the
most exciting night in Texas music.”
Several levels of sponsorship and involvement will be available for the 8th
annual awards show.
Boyd remarked, “The sponsorship packages are a fantastic
marketing opportunity to a target audience. They are designed to meet the
needs of a vast array of potential sponsors – families, individuals, clubs,
small businesses, and large corporations.
"The 501(c)3 Academy relies on partnerships with sponsors to help continue
the Academy’s mission. We are very grateful to our sponsors who signed on
early this year, and encourage anyone who wishes to support such a wonderful
cause to join our family.”
This year, there will be several events surrounding the awards show, which
has been called the most prestigious musical event in Texas. There will be
concerts in virtually every venue in Marshall and other events to be named
later.
Performers who want to be considered for one of the highly sought-after
awards must meet eligibility requirements which can be found online at
