Tickets to go on sale for awards show

PALESTINE, TX – Tickets go on sale Monday, February 25, 2008 for the 2008 Texas Music Awards to be held at the Palestine Civic Center on May 3rd.  Tickets will be available online at www.texasmusicawards.org.

Legendary songwriter, performer, and member of the famed Lost Gonzo Band, Gary P. Nunn will host the 6th annual event.

The awards show, presented this year by Northeast Texas-based MyTexasMusic.com, the retail partner of the show’s production company, Payline Productions, presents awards to independent Texas performers in several categories.

The annual event also serves as a fundraiser for the non-profit Academy of Texas Music, Inc. which seeks sponsorships and donations to further its efforts toward music education programs, scholarships, recognition projects, and benevolence programs for musicians in need.

Scheduled to perform are Shake Russell Band, The Hanshaws, Kelly McGuire, Troy Allan, The Bad Monkeys, Carissa Amberly, Kevin Deal, ShAnnie, Big John Mills, Kacey Musgraves, Elliott Fikes and Soul Serenade, and many more.  Gary P. Nunn will close the show with a performance of his own.

Jinelle Boyd, Executive Director of the Academy of
Texas Music, Inc. and co-founder of the Texas Music Awards remarks on the quality of the show.  ”These are some of the greatest performers in Texas.  They’re independent musicians making the music that the world will be listening to in the near future.”

Boyd added, “Even though the civic center has over 1300 seats, only about 700 tickets will be available to the public.  The tickets are priced at only $15 and $20 to encourage all Texas music fans to come join in this unique celebration.  I’m sure they won’t last long.”

Nominees will arrive via limousine to a red carpet affair starting at noon on May 3rd.  The show will begin at 2:00 p.m. and the afterparty will begin around 6:00 p.m.  Those who hold tickets to the awards show will be admitted to the afterparty at no charge.  Performances at the afterparty will feature all five Live Band of the Year nominees - Ryan T. Briggs and the Redneck Hippies, The Randy Brown Band, The Dust Devils, David Lee Kaiser and the Joint Chiefs, and Texas Renegade.  An announcement with additional details about the afterparty is expected soon.

Sponsorships are still available for the 6th annual awards show and range from $250 to $25,000.  Each level of sponsorship comes with a pre-determined number of tickets and access to the VIP
party, so this is a sure way to get good seats and support the mission of the Academy of Texas Music, Inc.

Boyd remarked, “The sponsorship packages are designed to meet the needs of a vast array of potential sponsors – families, individuals, clubs, small businesses, and large corporations.  The Academy relies on the generosity of sponsors to not only insure an amazing showcase, but to help continue the Academy’s mission.  We are very grateful to our sponsors who signed on early this year, and encourage anyone who wishes to support such a wonderful cause to join our family.”
